The Progressive Youth Network on European Policy (PYNEP) is a new training program for future progressive policy-makers interested in shaping European politics and decision-making already now. The goalis to strengthen the voice of the young people through training in policy-making practice and through sharing progressive values in European policy-making. We are convinced that young people deserve their seat at the discussion table during important deliberations on the future of the European continent, especially regarding the topics that young people deeply care about.

The Progressive Analytical Centre ́s missionis to empower young people, future European leaders, and increase their capacity to navigate in complex decision – making processe of the European Union. Having in mind there centrise of the far right, not only in the 2024 European Parliament elections but also at the level ofindividualMemberStates in the last fewyears, we are committed to amplifyingtheyoungpeople’spotentials to influence European policies and decision-making. As well as to empower then to shape the future political agenda and present their own political proposals. We want to make sure that the voice of young people from all over Europe is heard by strengthening the expertise of young people about key priorities for the Union.

Whatcan I expect?

The Progressive Youth Network on EuropeanPolicyis a training and mentoring program designed for young people from all corners of the European Union. This program offers participants the opportunity to create and present their own progressive political proposals, learn from experienced progressive experts and policy makers, and receive mentorship from both experts and practitioners with experience of European policy-making. The training program aims to enhance participants’ knowledge of practical European policy making and develop their skills in negotiating withinthe complex political environment oft he European Union.

The program isstructured as a hybrid cycle, beginning with two online workshopsfrom in November 2024. It concludes with a face-to-face meeting in Brussels, the heart of European policy making, where participants will have the chance to engage with Members of the European Parliament, Brussels-based decision-makers, and representatives from the expert community. During the online workshops, participants will gain valuable insights into European policy making practices in selected areas, presented by leading experts in the field. Following this phase, participants will be tasked with creating their own policy proposals in the form of policy papers, addressing key challenges in their respective policy areas.

This proposal is set to be developed in a form of a policy paper including in depth analysis and presentation of recommendations addressed to European decision-makers. Each participant will bea sked to perform a research of their respective policy area and, finally, present their own proposals for Europe. These policy areas include:

  • Mental Health and Young People – What the European Union can do for improving mental health of young generation?
  • Climate and EconomicPolicy – How to achieve just green modernisation of Europe?

After developing their policy proposals for Europe, participants will present them during the final online meeting. During this session, they will receive feedback from our senior fellows and experts on their respective topics.

The highlight of the entiretraining program will be the face-to-face meeting in Brussels. Here, participants will have the unique opportunity to meet with Members of the European Parliament, representatives of the Member States, renowned experts on European policy, and members of Brussels-based think tanks. They will discuss their perspectives on the challenges the EU faces today and present their own policy proposals to stakeholders involved in decision-making about the future oft he European Union and its citizens. The Brussels stay will take place between December 3rd and 4th.

Forwhom?

Participants of this training program must be between 18-30 years. The program is primarily designed for members of progressive politicaly outh organizations and non-profit organizations operating within the European Union. The working knowledge of Englishis a condition as thetraining program will be organized in English only. The maximum capacity of the training program is 18 participants.
